TREKKING ILE ALATAU NATIONAL PARK

🌿ABOUT ILE ALATAU NATIONAL PARK

Ile Alatau National Park is a pristine expanse of the Northern Tien Shan Mountains, located just south of Almaty. Encompassing alpine meadows, dense forests, glacial lakes, and rugged peaks, the park is a protected haven for Kazakhstan’s most beautiful mountain landscapes. Home to rare wildlife such as snow leopards, ibex, and golden eagles, the park offers hikers a chance to immerse themselves in untouched nature just a short drive from the city.

The name “Ile Alatau” refers to the “Motley Mountains of the Ili River,” a testament to the region’s geological diversity and color-rich terrain. The park’s dramatic elevation—from 600 to 4,400 meters—provides breathtaking transitions between zones, making it an ideal trekking destination for both nature lovers and adventure seekers.
